The Girl of Fire and Thorns is a book about Elisa, a princess who bears the Godstone, marking her as God’s chosen. She has been selected to complete Service. When she marries a King who is a stranger, and moves to a new land where she has to keep her marriage and her Godstone a secret, Elisa must be careful of whom to trust; some are willing to kill her because of her secrets. After she gets kidnapped, she finds out about the war that has been going on in the vast lands of her new kingdom. She creates the Malficio, a group of villagers who sabotage supplies and find ways to hurt the Invierne, a huge village with animagi, human-like creatures that use blood to conduct magic. Can she defeat their army, save her kingdom, and herself?
I loved this book! The storyline kept me interested with every flip of the page. Rae Carson did a great job of developing the characters and making them grow so they seem like real people. My only critique is that when the author writes long periods of time they seem too short. Otherwise this story was amazing.
